She was getting so many bald spots, not to mention the hair that was all over the house, and us!

Stop w/ that flashing already daddy!!

That shaving head thing was hard work.

"Don't bother me I'm eating" :)

I think I can think better now...

This gives new meaning to "she looks so much like her dad!"

Yes, that's a smile.

Well, we did it. She was looking so patchy last night we just decided to shave it. I had been on the verge of tears all day knowing it was coming and I hope I don't sound too shallow, but I DIDN'T WANT TO! I didn't want her hair to be gone, she had been BORN with a full head of hair and I had no idea what she would look like, plus it is a final sign that she has cancer. Every time I look at her I would be reminded about it. So I was emotional all day, but last night we took a deep breath and did it. She wasn't happy about being touched, but I don't think she minded her hair gone. She didn't seem to care. Jade however, couldn't believe what we were doing! She kept saying "Why are you doing that to her?" "She looks like a boy!" "Don't cut my hair like that!" She was more traumatized than Brinley! When all was said and done, we both looked at her and realized that she looked beautiful! Call it parent goggles if you want to, but she really looks adorable! Very different, but cute. We'll try to post a picture tonight, we are still trying to get a half-way happy picture, which is hard to capture these days. We are glad to get that part over with, it was one of those dreaded parts of this process, and now we just keep moving forward.

By the way, I wanted to say thanks for all the comments everyone is posting. We read every single comment and it really helps keep us going. I keep telling David I want some way to reply to each comment, I always want to say thanks, or something, so until we find a way to reply to people, a big thanks for all your words of encouragement and support. We love all of you, family, friends, and those who we have just met through the blog. Thanks!

Wow Kristin that must have been hard. I saw my dad with his bald head for the first time on Saturday. It was hard but he still looks like my dad and he still is handsome. In fact JD told him he looks like Elder Maxwell and I would have to agree. I am sure Brinley is still as beautiful as ever. It will make those beautiful brown eyes stand out even more. Don't worry about sounding shallow - that is impossible for you. It is a hard road but I think you guys are doing great. Text me a picture on my phone - I would love to see how cute she is!

I'm sure you know (but just in case) it's support kids with cancer month? Or something similar. Anyway, there are gold ribbons available that show your support for children fighting cancer. We are looking everyone for some to outfit our family! Thinking about you~

Congratulations! This is a big step. Being bald is one of the dreaded side effects, but here you are facing it, and it was OK. Can't wait to see her picture and her beautiful little face - even if she doesn't have a smile.
Love,
Mom

Kristin, David and Family...
She is absolutely ADORABLE....with or without hair, and does she ever look like her Daddy. I love her smile and keep those pictures coming. It never ceases to amaze me what we can do when we put our minds to it, and this was most definately a test for you....and now it's behind you. Great job and keep up the courage to take the next step. I pray everyday that you (Krisin & David) will be given the knowledge, strength, perseverance, etc. all the tools necessary to handle whatever is in store for you....and it is totally awesome to see the Power of Prayer at work.

Taylor and Jade, continue to be the wonderful big sisters I know you can be.

We love and miss you all terribly.

Love and Prayers,
Harry & Peggy Purvis and the clan from Northeastern Montana :)

hehehe. What cute pictures! I still think you should shave the other kids, too. Make it a family affair without hair. :)

Your Brinley is beautiful! One good thing about hair: it grows back. David, Sole found me on Facebook and I asked her about you. I don't know your wife, but your blog evidences her strong and wonderful mother heart & spirit. May the Lord continue to give you the tender mercies associated with your current trials. Love, Senora Vicky Hickman

Kristin,
You are such a good example of living by the spirit and using the spirit to help you learn. Keep up the good attitude. I hope that Brinley enjoys her headbands.
