They are keeping us here because they are not comfortable sending Brinley home with the "aspiration" on her lungs, still not sure what that means, can't seem to get a straight answer. Anyhow, her heartrate was low last night, so she slept by the oxygen mask (not so low she had to wear it) and they just feel like they are not quite ready to send us off. So we agree with whatever they say. One more day, maybe? Not sure..

Ummmm, I'm just a labor and delivery nurse but what aspiration means to me is when someone vomits either laying down or when they are under sedation and some of the stomach contents gets in their lungs. Stomach acid and/or food. That can be hard on lungs which is probably why they want to watch her. I'm frustrated that they did explain that to you. Sorry if that's gross to everyone else. I don't know much of what you are going through but if you have questions that aren't getting answered, you can consider me your 1-800-dial-a-nurse.

Thanks Ashley, I've gotten 5 different explanations to the "spot" on her lungs, from it's nothing to it's phemonia. Now they are calling it aspiration, so I guess that makes sense, since she woke up hacking from her sedation. I'm so frustrated because we see a different doc every time (none of them ONCOLOGISTS!!) and I always get the deer in the headlight look when I ask a simple question. The answers to the same questions are completely different. I just want to tell them to not bother until there is an oncologist in house. GRRRRRR!
