We are having a REALLY hard time getting Brinley to take her meds. They prescribed a really strong antibiotic for this pnemonia thing, and it is DISGUSTING! It smells like poop, and David tasted it last night, and said it tastes like poop too (don't ask me when he's eaten poop, but if you know David and the kind of kid he was.....lol). So she absolutely REFUSES to swallow it. We're supposed to give it to her 3x a day, 5ml's. That is a lot. I can't make her eat something that tastes so disgusting, she almost throws up every time. I've tried masking it in juice, soda, raspberry syrup, etc, but it's too much medicine to mask the taste. She catches on every time. Last night, between the 3 medicines we had to shove down her throat, her shirt was soaked from spitting it out and we finally gave up on the antibiotic. The septra (the other antibiotic she has to take) we had to redose about 3 times before we could get her to swallow it. I called the clinic and left an msg for someone to give her something else, but they haven't called back. Lets hope there is something else she can take, because there is NO WAY you can make a 2 year old eat something like that. I feel so bad shoving gross stuff down her throat and making her almost throw up every time. We ARE accepting advice on this one......we'll try anything......

As for the other kiddos, Taylor is still sick w/fever and Jade, who was not so bad, woke up last night with 103 fever, and has been running a fever all day. So this a very yucky virus that stays for a long time. We're still trying to keep it away from Brinley, and so far no fever since the hospital. Let's hope it stays that way.

Yeah what is with the antibiotics these days. Marissa had some a few months back and JD said it was horrible. What happened to the good bubblegum kind? I wish you luck - I have no advice other than just plug her nose so she has to drink it. And that feels cruel too. Good luck - I hope the girls get feeling better soon!

That is a really tough one. Hank had a hard time with medicine so I asked the doc one day if I could give a smaller, more concentrated dose. She said sure. What the heck? Why didn't we do that in the first place? Good Luck

Ok.... so what I meant to say was... "If I could imagine what poop tasted like, this would be it"

No poop eating for little David... gravel is one thing... poop... i don't do poop.

I think if you need advice on how to eat poop, your best bet is to consult a dog on this one.

Oh man, I feel for you! That is a hard one! Poor little Brinley! I would have thought like you and tried to mix it with a drink:) Hopefully the doctors can give you a different antibiotic:)

Blake has to take Prevacid 2x's a day in a liquid form. It is so nasty and he spits it up too. Although it is Guava flavored, which does nothing to help the taste. We pin him down and keep his jaw open by holding it from the outside and we have a medicine syringe that we place on the inside of his cheek as far back as we can get it. We put it in a little at a time he gets 2.5ml each time, so it take a little bit but it's worth it.He still freaks out & spits some up, but not as bad. It's like torturing your baby. Maybe this will help, good luck!! We are thinking of you.

Love,

Hey, not sure if you remember us or not, but we were in your Serene Ward in Henderson. I found your blog from Sara Russell's and just want ya to know we are praying for your sweet girl. Are you guys in SLC? I have a daughter with medical problems and have spent tons of time in hospitals too. No fun! Hope the colds and flu stuff stay away from Brin!
